I guess it comes down to if you want to capture an image, or make one up later in Photoshop.. I work in PS all day.. and at the end of the day, that last thing I want to do is have to tweak an image all night so that it looks good.. so, ya, you can download a cheesy action, there are plenty out there.. or you can just go make good images. If you have a good digital image, why would you want to make it look like an old camera?

so the only way to create vintage beat up look is to only use vintage beat up tools? i guess i better start polishing my glass plate negs.. :) seems like a slippery slope.. so if i hooked up my scanning back to my holga.. that would not be Kosher? that is what i do not get.. why does the capture medium matter? if i use Ilford xp1 is it true black and white since their is no silver in it and it is dye based?

Interesting point Loaf.. I guess I don't really have an answer.. I comes down to personal choice.. as long as we're all making good images, it doesn't really matter how we got there- just that we got there.. I just prefer a holga, mamiya 6mf and the like.. I also have a Phase One on a Hassy, but that's a bitch to take out for a hike! Its like the Nikon v. Canon thread.. it just comes down to how you want to do it......

I would agree nic.. I just wish there was a easy way to digitally use all the cameras that i have.. some sort universal back for all of them.. i miss using some of my cameras.. i actually know a photographer that is going so far as to creating .. basically camera obscura's.. he digitally photographs the image on the ground glass.. something similar i guess to do some of the depth of field devices that digi movie guys use..
