Okay I'm having some illy issues. I'm fully updated on CS3 running Leopard on a G5.
The PSD's i'm "Placing" into my AI file are going in just fine, but the little "Update Link" button is coming up grey, as are the menu commands.
Anyone have any ideas? Is this another one of those little Leopard/CS3 bugs? I'm selecting the "flatten" option when I place my PSD so that I don't get an Object for each layer of the PSD.
Thanks in advance!

should work. does it work in InDesign?

are they embedded or linked?
if they are embedded, the update link feature wont work.

Nope, I've got 'em linked. They're showing in my "Linked Files" window. I just have a greyed out "Update" button, so I have to relink them everytime. And it's really flipping annoying. It won't even alert me if I go and edit the PSD that's linked in Photoshop and then go back to Illy like before. I guess I should try it in InDesign too.

they'll still be in your link palette regardless...does it have that little image icon next to it in the links?

click the flyout menu and choose "show embedded files" - if your links still show up, guess what?
;)

Okay I clicked show embedded and nothing got selected. In my Linked panel, the files are showing that little square/triangle icon next to them. Grr! Stupid Adobe! They better release some updates soon!

if the square icon is next to your links, THEY ARE EMBEDDED.
when you select "show embedded files" - it shows in your links palette which images are embedded, not linked - thus all linked files would disappear out of the links palette.
embedded files have the icon next to them.
embedded files can NOT be updated when re-saved.
