Windows on a Mac

So I ordered the shiny new MacBook Pro, now the question is how to run windows on it for max flexibility.
It seems like the two most popular packages are Parallels and VMWare fusion. Has anyone used these? Do you like/dislike the software? any bugs?
After reading reviews I am leaning towards VMWare, but would like to hear from people running it to see how their experience has been.
kthxbye

there are tons of discussions on this floating around here.
- thanks for the helpful post. I "filtered" and nothing came upflashbender

VMWare is the fastest, imo. And most stable.
- Thanks. THat is what most of the reviews are saying too. Nice to hear it from a trusted source though.flashbender

if its loaded with Leopard, then you are good to go,
http://www.apple.com/macosx/feat…- yeah, it gots the Leopard. The nice thing about these other two are you don't have to reboot to get to the windows.flashbender

By the way, I use Leopard too and haven't noticed any problems yet with VMWare. I think it's Leopard-ready.

This may be a silly question, but I'm under the assumption that you still need Boot Camp - which ship with Leopard - and that VMWare and Parallels essentially sit on top of bootcamp and take away the need to restart in order to switch between windows and osx. Yeah?

I don't think you need Bootcamp. I used it on Tiger too.

even better.
thanks.

Can VMWare work with Bootcamp partition installed windows?

you should also download both demos and see which works best for you. VMWare fusion is the least resource hungry of the two which was the deal breaker for me.

They claim you can.
"Use your existing Boot Camp partition as a virtual machine, or use the built-in Windows Easy Install to install a fresh copy of Windows on a new virtual machine."

How about running Parallels desktop? Unlike Boot Camp it does not require a restart to switch the OS and works fairly well on both desktops and laptops.
- that, my friend, is the question. Parallels vs. VMWare.flashbender
