my firm has a crap website

i work for a design firm in Austin..
we do everything from print/collateral/packaging work to web design and heavy development..over the last couple of years we have done some awesome work..
but..
our company website is crap.. i'm embarrassed to show it off to potential clients and even friends.. we have more work than we know what to do with but still.. it doesnt make sense to have a 1995 company website/portfolio if were doing 2007 and 2008 quality work..
anyone else have this problem?

All studios had the same problem. They have no time to design their own and when they have some time, they are not able to make something for their taste. So thats why the most of the studios make a brief and give the project to another studio.
I know is interesting but is true.

I can relate. It is just like why I feel like any site's I design for myself suck. You need to give these projects to friends and if you're a company, have another design firm do it. It tends to work better that way.

Yeah I've work in 2 design studios and both had the same problem.
Then since 1 year I am a freelancer and now i receive briefs from studios or other graphic designers to design for them.
So this is it, and I kinda agree. You will always unlike what you will do for your own.

Yeah, true - crap. But now cause you know the solution, go work on a good brief and then Google the best web design studio and give them an email.

Since we aren't in need of a website to get clients I doubt the company will be spending the money any time soon to get it redesigned.

We have been redesigning our site for over a year now. It's a matter of resource - we're just too damn busy making cool stuff for other clients. It'll be done soon though and it'll be damn sweet when it is...

- You can definitely take too long on it too though. I gave myself two days just to get something up, and stop worrying about it

I feel you guys, I HATE MY WEBSITE.
Srsly, don't visit it. It's crap and doesn't reflect the quality of work I've done since 2005.
We recently redid our site (firm I work for), it's not as bad as some but I still don't think it does justice to the work. Feels outdated.

Meta: I've seen your site a few times going around the net over last few years, and have had it bookmarked for sometime. It feels nice. I still have one of your PDFs somewhere, about branding or something...
It's impossible to design your own site. It is so hard. I've tried with mine, but I need to update it urgently, the design is ...not the best, but content needs updating really badly.. haven't got the time.
Oh, I remember- that's an excuse. I haven't /made/ the time.
