we do a ton of video content - interviews about people's life stories - and we are often presented with the dilemma of how wide do we distribute that content online. do we post all the videos on our site and then again everything in it's entirety on our youtube account and then to google video and so on? we want the content watched but we're also building a brand.

at the end of the day we want to get as much traffic back to our site as possible. currently we're posting hightlights to youtube thinking that it will be enough to entice. traffic is coming but it's hard to say how much.

same goes with partners. we have many offers to put our content on other websites which get a lot of traffic but where is the point that the content gets diluted and you lose the brand.... or is the logic that the wider you get it out there the more will come back?

curious if anyone else is struggling with this one?

as long as your video content is branded consistently, i would put the clips in their entirety on youtube, etc...

getting people to leave the website they are on (especially if it has tons of video content) is no easy task. they just click and watch, click and watch. they don't want to leave once they're engaged.

what is your site offering? and why should they visit?
