I need a piece of advice, concerning Apple's 15" Macbook Pro models.
I don't know if I should buy the cheapest or the middle-priced model. I can manage without the extra CPU-power, but what about the graphics?
Would you consider the NVIDIA GeForce card with 128MB of RAM sufficient for working with Adobe CS and playing DVDs, in high quality?
The alternative is the more expensive 256 MB option, but I'd kinda like to save the $$.

You should do what I am doing and wait until January when the rumored "new" MPB's are coming out. No doubt the video card in the lowest end version will be better than it currently is.

Well, I just got the $1999 model and the 128 MB card under the hood is no slouch.
It tears through CS3 apps, After Effects CS3 and Cinema 4D.
I also loaded up the demo of that Unreal Tournament 3 game just to see what it could do. Maximum settings = silky framerate.
Go for it.

I agree with brenton... I also have the $1999 model maxed out on RAM and it works like a charm with Final Cut Studio 2, Adobe CS3 and pretty much anything else I throw at it. So you will definitely be fine if you want to save yourself a bit of change.

same here, CS3, cinema 4D..
everything runs smooth...

Thanks!
I think I'll go for the cheaper pro model, although upgrades seem to be around the corner, like mg33 stated. But I mean, you could always wait for the newest upgrade...

I don't that differently-powered GPUs make that much difference to using graphics applications.. unless, of course, you're doing 3d.
Get yourself as much RAM and HD space as you can, and pair them with the best processor you can afford.

Got the 1999 Macbook pro model with 128mb and 3 Gb of ram
and it's ssslloooowwww...
With PS, illy and Indsign opened at the same time the thing simply becomes unresponsive.
I'd go with the better model.

Good info from everyone about the quality of the 128 mb graphics.
My new employer offers discounts on Apple products, just have to be patient...
