score yourself some kinda audio and MIDI interface (external USB/Firewire for example) a mixer and Logic software or similar, throw in some audio units or 'guitar rig' and the likes for your gat effects and your away laughing ;)
- I got an mbox with Protools.
good stuff. I wish I had more time to play with those toys. Maybe I should quit my job...al_la

thanks blackspade. i guess the midi interface is essential. can you suggest a good one? im clueless.
and it might be a stupid question but why would i need a mixer if i have the midi interface? apart from turning instruments on and off and volume.

grab yourself an Mbox interface & you get protoolsLE with it. I have a firebox with cubase running to a mac currently & I preferred protools much more.

how bout ableton?

I currently or have once owned every interface in existence, don't waste your time with anything else:

I run everything into an 8-channel board and out to the PC. Pretty straight-forward set up, but it serves me very well.

thats what I do blaw run all instruments into 8 channel board then into interface

this is the best value solution for your mac
http://www.apogeedigital.com/pro…you can record into something like garage band, but i'd recommend ableton live or logic (on the mac).
i'm diehard cubase user, just because that's what i learned first.
if the guitar is electric, you can record directly into the duet, but for the best sound you'll want to mic a guitar cab.
search around on http://gearslutz.com for proper technique. i'm not a guitar guy.
