What Barry Says is a collaboration between Simon Robson and his friend Barry McNamara. Simon has long been fascinated by Barry's views on U.S. foreign policy. Simon decided to record Barry's delivering a monologue exploring U.S. imperialism and the project for the New American Century. This speech became the focal point around which animation was constructed.

“What Barry Says” is very much a response to Simon witnessing his peers apparent lack of interest in the anti-war marches between the attack on Afghanistan and the second Gulf war. Many young Londors seemed to feel that they could do nothing to stop the attack on Iraq, so why bother.

“What Barry Says” is meant to appeal to a visually literate generation, hold the attention and give food for thought.

Overall beautifully done and well thought out in terms of its visual interpretation of a very opinionated point of view. If their goal was to reach this “visually literate generation” they may have been better off having left out the insensitive, fear driven and over the top Nazi regime comparisons turning me off and potentially turning off an audience that may have otherwise supported its message in its entirety.
