Hello...
Anyone here ever print a job via the web? Their prices are always less than the regular guys, but I've never had the nerve to send them any work.
Printing on matte stock.
Thanx.

Just Ctrl+P to find out?
That doesn't even make sense.
Yes, I've done it a few times - some (smaller companies) have sent photos of test prints, others have sent a sample. Usually they'll have an in-house print techie who can tell if there's anything up before the job goes to print.
When I've gone with one of the real cheap 'consumer' printshops (printing.com here in the UK, for instance) I've just explained everything in minute detail - specced the pieces out to the nth degree and got back exactly what i've expected. With these companies, it's standard digital print, so you can't really go wrong - but then you get what you pay for, so if it's not perfect, or exactly how you'd imagined, well, then you're stuffed.

Sorry, to clarify - by "if it's not perfect, or exactly how you'd imagined, well, then you're stuffed" I mean if the stock quality is not up to your usual uber standard or whatever - NOT if they bodge your job up.

Thanx for the details, d.
Anyone besides print.com?

I've had luck with psprint.com.
Also, I just FTP to my "regular" printer (http://www.colortechinc.com/), too, so it's not really unlike that.
In the case of psprint, a sample package makes the decision process easy.
In fact, I'm working with a print company right now to expand into a web-based ordering app. A lot of shops are doing this just to keep afloat, so you still get solid print folks producing the jobs.
