So, my wife and I just had a son on Oct 18th and as a new parent I would like to know if anyone has had some words of wisdom imparted to them by their fathers.

well this is the kind of guy my dad was.
when my mom divorced him, she just wanted his money, not me, so he was smart and stayed close. i could ride my bike to his house any day after work. so it's not like my mom ever took him out of my life even though she tried.
i figure love your son like that and you'll be good
oh and i once read someone say they would smack their kid every time they saw ice cream. pavlov at work!
congratulations :D
