Check this out tomorrow night if you live here.
Graphic designer, artist and Illinoisan Chuck Anderson has his very first solo Chicago show tomorrow at the newly minted Threadless gallery. Hotcha!
Even if you don't recognize Anderson's name, you probably recognize his ethereal, surreal style:

Threadless store is right around the corner from my house. If you're going let's meet up and smash something.
Wear your NT sticker on your face.

Sounds good, I hope you have a good time.
I'm only posting in this thread so that I can wield 'Illinoisan'. What an utterly brilliant word!

That's really North of the city right mg?

Heh, I remember reading an interview with NoPattern where he was specifically complaining about people on Newstoday not understanding his work.
I like his stuff, personally.
- k0na_an0k0
So don't I ukit.
If I knew the day Chuck was going to be at the store I'd cab it up there to meet him.

Like there's anything to understand.

Kona, I'm sure it's tomorrow night. It's the opening, so I'm not sure why he wouldn't be there.
It's at Broadway & Wellington, which is just a few blocks north of Diversey.
It's 4.5 miles from your office, I measured.

Really? That's all? Looked far as hell when I finally found it on mapquest.
Hmmm....
- mg330
Things always seem far away here, it's strange.
Basically its:
east on Madison
North on LaSalle
Merge to Clark
Right on Wellington
Left on BroadwayRight there in my neighborhood
- mg330
Maps always make it seem like stuff is far away.
When we went to San Francisco I was totally worried about how we'd get around. Two or three times we hiked it right across Chinatown to the piers, it was much less spread out in person.
But, I guess we're used to that with so much walking in the city.

yo mg and kona, check yo mail fools!
- mg330
Thanks OSFA. I don't get those e-mails but thanks for sending.
He will be there Doug.
- k0na_an0k0
Right on.
I emailed osfa back. I might have some dinner plans tomorrow back home. Not 100% sure yet.
- mg330
I'll for sure go and try to grab an extra poster. The store is seriously not even 100 or so yards from my house.
- OSFA0
I'm sure it'll be a good exhibition. Sucks I can't go...

The threadless store is pretty small, new shirts rotate in every week.
Upstairs there's a gallery with computers where they plan on having people in to do lessons and whatnot.
- GT_10
His work belongs in a 3 second bumper-spot for MTV's latest reality show, not an art gallery.
- mg330
Then you're in luck GT_1 because it's really not an art gallery, it's a clothing store.

shit.
