and just to be a prick, it won't be tied just to AT&T!

absolutely.
the ability to directly work from the core, /root of the OS when developing an app is key. this is going to be very cool to see come to fruition.

the cool thing about this is it is open source, not locked down. That is what is exciting about this to me.

And when I hear g-phone I think of a small phone for a womans g-spot
ring ring
g-spot: Hello.... Andreas g-spot how can I direct your call?
- mrdobolina0
no sorry.

I was being facetious.
Don't you remember any of the iPhone conversations where people were more concerned with it's apps/OS than it functioning as a phone?

Google is making an open source software platform for phones not an actual device.
The g-phone talk is just rumor.

google isn't making phones, they are making an OS for phones. So again, huh?

What was the #1 issue with the iPhone?!?.... "I want my phone to be a phone first and foremost blah blah cry."
So much talk of the aps on googles phone. I'd like to see how it functions as a phone.

no clue, really. mobile development is a dying breed, stick a fork in it, roll it into the grave- nothing left.

I'd rather not have a phone that's full of ads.

Symbian is neither Open Source, nor based on Linux.
You can develop for it on Linux, but Symbian is a proprietary standard, I think developed from the ashes of Psion's old 'OS' - essentially a forerunner's to today's smartphone functionality.
