An "artist" from Nicaragua decided to use a dog for an "art" project.
My pov, not only most of Conceptual Art is irrelevant and stupid (i've expressed it here many times so that's not new) ... but this time an "artist" used a living animal to make a moral statement about humans and a "statement". omg a statement!!!
A statement! That message shit stupid brainless artists are so fond of these days to show-off their stupid irrelevancy.
omg I have a statement for you.
Art got stupid.
This is fucking sick.

I'm not really posting this for fun. I got in love with art once - but I became a troll as so much stupidity and nonsense piles up for presentation these last years.
I'm really sick about this, since this looks like the perfect corollary of what's going on.

I want to be your dog.

would you tie-up a dying bum, or a drug addict, and let him die - to make a statement about the insensitivity of modern cities? a wolf? a whale? a man? a woman?
would you tie-up bono and let him starve to know how pop music gulfs up in fashion?
I bet someone will make an excuse at some point - but it will only reinforce my point.

(Oct 29 07, 13:02)actually, that's what most people want. I'm nice.

oh no
a dog diedbig fucking deal
a dog no one cared about before mind you.
well, the message has worked, the word is out and his listeners are turning on him
who cares, def not the ones signing the petition, they just like to believe their poo don't stain
i wish this could and would happen more often around the world

(Oct 29 07, 13:06)would you tie a dying us soldier to prove Iraq war is wrong? or right?
Don't you see how stupid that is?

so did the dog die or not?
it's all mere speculation so far...no?
I tell you something though...the place where i have seen dogs being treated most badly has got to be in bali, indonesia. They look disgustingly hungry, sick, and diseased. their skin is full of scabs and almost falling of. And to add to this, the locals pass by them in they motorbikes and make sure they go close by to give them a nice kick as the scoot off into the distance...
I would not like to be a dog in bali.

I can't believe a gallery would even let him do this.
You're right though Witt, he just proved how irrelevant he is as an thinker and artist. A pointless spectacle.

A pointless spectacle.

the dog died the next day aparently.
My problem is why didn't he just fucking take the dog home and feed it up?. If he wanted to raise awareness, why didn't he just feed the dog in the exhibition and put the words
"to save a life is amzing" in dog food.
He is a prick a murderer and a fucking lunatic.

i can't believe how some people even use common logic skills to prove this as a worthy "statement". It's really beyond my grasp.
But then I don't really want to grasp it.
Not even in SF this can be called "cool".
This makes me doubt individualism and a liberal world.
I can't cope with common-sense limits, maybe that's my problem.
- chossy0
I'm going to grab him and stake him out in the middle of The chambers street museum in Edinburgh and write in chocolate on the floor in front of him.
This guy is a prick.
- Mimio0
Definitely, but also in line with Paul Virilio's ideas of manufactured conflicts and the arts being transformed into the "museum of accidents" by all the teaming voices vying for attention in the modern world of mass media.

Art is supposed to say something about the human condition. Laterally, at least, this is a resounding success.
On another note..

(Oct 29 07, 13:20)hah... nice

thing is that "artist" doesn't know what art is. He can do whatever he wants, of course, but is he allowed to use a living being to make a statement?
I mean, isn't art supposed to be a REPLICA for the things or ideas or whatever you want to prove?
This brings us to the problem of what galleries imposes on artists more often than not. that "new thing" which makes exploration seems silly most of the time.
unfortunately, i do not master english enough to discuss this in a more evident manner - so i'll just say this path is WRONG. Not morally wrong, but wrong on it's method and probably wrong on its aims.
Which makes it irrelevant and stupid.
I say STUPID because artists are using concepts and words to push the limits of what is not defined by word or concepts (which belong to linguistics). Art is not language. If art is language than we don't need language, or art.
one of the two must go.
that's my honest opinion.

if you use reality for art, then why do you do art? why not use reality. but if it is reality it's not art, because we don't need to mimic what is there already.
you see?
if I shoot someone to say "that's how I shoot someone" is that art? no. it's a shooting.
if art isn't mimic than we don't need it and a shooting artist is not an artist but a shooter.
that's linguistics.

that's why movies or literature or painting or music are art. because they don't exist if you remain quiet.

Witt
(Oct 29 07, 13:04)In a motherfucking second.
Shame about the dog though.
