Ive got a task to complete for an interview the idea says
'Create banner advertising concepts and designs'includes 2 flash and 2 gif
are story boards acceptable for this? Ive already put in a power of reasearch to the brand, dont want to go wasting my time if thy dont like it.
(that and i dont know how to use flash well enough to put one of my concepts to full animation in time!)

What would a Doozer do?
I'd interpret 'Create banner advertising concepts and designs' as just that - concepts and designs - not necessarily the full product.
I would suggest that you focus your efforts on what you CAN achieve in Flash, rather than overselling your capabilities. You'd be screwed if they took you up on your fancy concept and you couldn't deliver (slight exaggeration excepted, obviously!).
imo, anyway.
Good luck.

Normaly when creative pass to production it can be just 5 frames for animating for banner (can be less) with brief on style on ani.
so mock in PS or Illy 5 frames as story board and explain the idea behind the delivery/lead up to of the final proposition at yr interview.
Standard Advertising Units can be flash and gid (flash ususally has back up gif of 15k)
Rich Media is a wider range and includes "expandable" ads that grow when you rollover
Most ad delivery networks publish guidelines on their sites so google it! however
eyeblaster covers alot of them (their is a link to standard formats)
most rich media have preload of 30k (before rollover and 100k after)

christ a banner ad job... i'd look for something else... I'd rather do my tax return than do banner ads
