(Oct 26 07, 12:30)We're in the midst of that as well. He has a bunch of Bionicles and has been saying he wants some "Lego Bionicles." I tell them they're all Lego Bionicles, since they're made by Lego. He didn't believe me. I showed him the Bionicle packaging prominently displaying the Lego logo.
Blew his mind. Two worlds converged.

wow - wish I had my old legos. I had that set too. I gave it all away when I moved out of the house - big mistake.
Something nice about the old space sets. Nowadays, they've made all these unusual custom pieces that lack a little imagination, imo. They look cool, but they feel like cheating to me.

My mom saved it all and gave it to me when I became a parent myself.
I agree the new Lego is too detailed, nothing is left fot he imagination anymore.
Kind of like the old video games, didn't need much to spark a hole universe up in the brain. Now a video game looks better than the real world and it's still not good enough.
Good old days..

Douglas Coupland wrote in "Microserfs" that lego generation was trained to have a digital, blocky, pixelated perception of the world that helped create the computer reality of today. I kind of agree, plasticine was too analog for me as a kid.

I posted this before, but last year I taught my son about animation using a digital camera, Legos (him) and Yuengling (me).

Along those same lines, a few weeks later he came up with a scheme to get me to clean his room:

Was obsessed with it for about a year around 10-11 years. My mates would knock round to see if I was playing football but I'm like " fuck off, I'm building a moon base " Eventually ventured back out to play sports, redeveloped muscle in all my limbs and regained full eye sight.

Just found 3 binbags full of my old lego in the parental units attic.
No one will see me for a few weeks :)

I friend of mine, in a conversation in which she was describing her love for something, once said:
"I love it like lego".
Kinda sums it up, don't you think?
