i use thecounter.com – seems ok – $15 a year

I find clients really like it, its simple to use and you can access stats quickly. It doesnt show all legacy data - like referrers from a year ago etc but generally its very good and free

If you become proficient at analytics there are companies that are willing to hire you on that fact alone. Google analytics is the most 'robust' stat program out there.
