Say you have a graphic in illlustrator, and you duplicate the graphic several times into a pattern. is there a way to have it so if you change one of the graphics, they all change in the same way according to what you did to the origional?? Creating a parent graphic?

Have a dick around with the Symbols/Swatches - group objects together, drop them on the palettes - make dupes, edit and swap.
Not something I've played with too much, but it's certainly possible.

If it's a symbol....just double click it in the symbol palette. This will take you into symbol isolation mode where you can edit the single instance of the symbol.
When you click out...all the instances will have changed to reflect your edit.
