how can create a link that opens quicktime to play the file and not on a page?

most of the time, if you click on a direct (.mov) link within a browser it will open it within the browser, event though it uses the quicktime engine, it still will reside within the browser window.
I think that the user has to specify that in his own settings (if they'd like it to open in the QT player)
of course theres also the option of having the viewer download the QT file first, within a zip file or something.

The files are more reliable in the QT program itself compared to opening them in a browser, at least in my experience. Sometimes they don't open up but then I copy and paste the URL into QT or save the file and open it up in there and it works fine.
