We have half term in a couple of weeks and I want to suprise my wife with a couple of nights away somewhere. We normally go to Edinburgh but I'm looking for somewhere different that's nice this time of year. Looking for somewhere relaxed, maybe a few shops, places to go etc. Suggestions please!

Brighton. Nice and relaxing or full on partying depending on what you're looking for. Its beside the sea, got excellent shops, pubs, restaurants, clubs. Always have a great time when I go there, my bro & his family lives there so good for kids too.
Go to the North lanes, do a bit of shopping, check out the music shops, have a bite to eat then get drunk. What more do you need!

Motherwell.
cultural capital of scotland.

St Ives we thought of but it's pricey and messy to get to from Liverpool. Brighton's a good call, might look into that. Motherwell, hmm. Southend sorry no!

I heartily endorse Brighton! (And id anyone wants to pay me to do so, even better!) Its really cool and my gf loves it too (especially the shopping).
If you do go, check out Brighton Pavillion and The Royal theatre for a bit of culture or the North Lanes for homemade fudge!

Brighton, that's a deffinate.
Abersoch is always beautiful around now, lovely little bay, fishing village, and Pwllheli is just a short ride away. Also Llangollen, great riverside bar/resteraunt : always a good choice!
