I think they look crap, the new nano looks crap but the zune is crapper / crappest / crappier / chief crapton of crapcrap villa, crap town, cape crap. IMHO of course.

The new Nano isn't that bad when you actually hold it in your hands and use it. It's really small and cute. Not as eye-catching as the 2nd Gen, but that tells you something about society, imo.

The Zune's popularity will also be determined by price.
I think the 3rd Gen. Nano is pretty good for its price (lower than what even the 2nd Gen is) although you can get many other MP3s for a lower price. It comes down to user experience / usability as well as the look of it. Branding plays a part too, obviously.
I suspect the new Nano will eventually replace the iPod Classic (it looks like a shorter, smaller version of it anyway) and the iTouch will take over, depending on its success.

sure, someones got to like it? And the other thing I dont get is if apple are making 160gb ipods now, why the eff didnt they make a 160 gb touch? Or iphone?

if you can find a 160gb flash HD which will keep the price of the Touch and iPhone the same as they are now, let Apple know... they will be glad to hear from you :)

Yes, flash is much more expensive so an iPod Touch with a 160GB HD would automatically be very pricey.

The Zune has picked up the old direction of the iPod, which is going in an entirely new direction now. I think you get more features for the price with the Zune (like the Wifi thing), whereas you get more of the aesthetic things with the iPod. Zune even calls their podcasts actual "podcasts" when some people believe they should've called them "Zunecasts" because the iPod has a lock on everything "pod".
