If I throw a 20 meg Raster file into Illustrator, add some text and layers, why does the file end up being 100 megs?
What is all the additional info?

good question! i get that many times also. could it be the information that embeds the raster file so you don't have the link to it but the actual file in the doc...?

relink image, select embed from links menu, save without PDF compatibility.
also is the embedded image a jpeg? or compressed tiff? i believe you loose the compression when embedding these into illustrator.
