i believe somehow, after picking up my iphone for a call with a new client, it opened up a time portal back to 1990.
client wants:
- no flash
- animated gif 3D spinning logo
- animated gifs, with fade from one picture to another on the homepage. 6 pics total
- animated gif rollover ads
- scrolling "message" text
- a blinking "what's new" banneri did my best to not laugh but when they said "and we want it to blink" i busted out laughing.
ah, what a stroll down memory lane of designing for the web in 1990.
oh. did i mention that their current site is one giant image with image maps for links?
why me?

Back in 1990 you'd've been lucky to get an animated gif and HTML blink...

strike that, I meant to say "for love of country."

People love animated gifs.
It's a fact of life.
For an internal site I got, "Can you put some of those cool animated gifs on our site? I don't really like the images you create for our clients, there is no motion. I want things moving all over the place. Makes me feel like I'm on the internet, and not looking at a piece of coloured piece of paper."

To his credit, he is an engineer, but if this would have been my boss I would have slit his throat without so much of an eye blink.

lol mg33 - that guy looks uncannily like Doug...
*saves for future photoshopping.

I mangled that last sentence up, but you get the gist, haha.

dont forget the under construction shoveling construction worker gif while you are creating your retro masterpiece

BRs made up of telegraph wires with cute animated birds on will be making a comeback soon too.
Sneak in a java water reflection script for extra brownie points.

holy shit mg. that guy could be my twin! except i'm 30lbs lighter overall and 10lbs heavier in the package area.
:)
flav, i think i talked them out of half their shit ideas. no throats needed to be slit... yet... the day is still young.

lol nairn.
i'm adding that into my proposal.

This sounds like that new TV show, "Journeyman". About the time-traveler guy (similar to Quantum Leap, except this guy actually remembers everything). He has an iPhone in the present and it turns into a Blackberry or something older whenever he warps back to 1997...
- Jaline0
haha, mg33, THAT IS DOUG.
Also, if you need some tips on how to make some high-class animated gifs, I heard Nairn is an expert.
*runs away

haha. jaline when i first saw the preview for journeyman i was like DUDE, YOU CAN'T RIP OFF QUANTUM LEAP! back in 1997 his phone should have morphed into one of those giant box phones you had to carry around in the leather bag that had the real sized phone handset. that would have been fuckin cool.
haha.
- Jaline0
lol, there is a phone like that in the show! he warps back while wearing his bluetooth headset, and this one random guy with one of those HUGE phones, says "Beam me up, Scotty" to the person on the other end of the phone. Then the main character is like, "do you have a problem?"
- k0na_an0k0
HAHA! really!?! shit now i have to start watching this show. sounds awesome!
- Jaline0
heh, it has some funny parts. But apparently if you've seen Quantum Leap it has some similar stuff. Still, I thought it was a decent pilot. Nothing too new though.
