Hi. Sometimes my computer crashes but it's like a window shade of darkness slowly lowers over my screen and then I get a message that I have to restart. This happen to anyone? It has happened once while plugged in and yesterday 3x in a row when I was using the battery.

Yes, I've had that too. Had it when plugging in a USB device, and also when using Parallels.
Not sure what the problem was though. I'm using the comp with Bootcamp win XP anyway - so not dealing with MAC OS on a day to day basis.
I think the dark screen effect is like the WIN blue screen of death. It's a complete system shut down and (if like win) might be to do with memory referencing - although I'm aure others more knowledgable will be able to say what it signifies.

Kernal Panic. Start by repairing your permissions. Apps>Utilities>Disk Utility.

Mine needed a new Logic board when it did that so if it's under warranty getting to a mac store as soon as you can.

Try resetting PRAM, NVRAM

i had that too! I switched to mac 6 months ago and it seems to be the mac equivalent of the blue screen - and i've seen it more than i would like too..And why is everthing less responsive and 'sticky' on a mac compared to a pc? Still getting used to the fruitcase, but hey, i look cooler in public :-P

My issue is i can't get one coz Apple hasn't managed to ship to Australia yet.
I've now been waiting 2.5months and growing very impatient!

That happened to me several times with mine.
Don't really know why that happened. It would happen suddenly even without touching the computer.
Now, about 2 months I ago I took my macbook pro for repair, as after an update the computer never restarted, and after their inspection they told me they had given me the wrong ram stick 6 months earlier. They replaced the ram and haven't had any problem since then.
