I've been a mouse guy forever, but I'm thinking of making the switch to the Trackball. But I've never used one- and I'm not totally convinced of the advantages.
Do you guys use a trackball or mouse (for work, that is) Should I switch? Or just get a better mouse?

always been a trackball guy. I need it for my arm, I tend to lapse into carpal tunnel pretty quickly on mice.
But if you do, just consider the range of apps you use. If you do 3D stuff, spend the $100 on the super fancy trackball. You'll need those thrid and fourth programmable buttons.

I'd go better-mouse, or Wacom, as Msr. Calles suggests.
Haven't been a big user of trackballs, but in my experience, beyond convenient OS pointing and clicking, I can't see any advantage for design work. For instance - freehanding a straight line vertically or horizontally was a pain. That said - the track ball I used was quite wee and light.

I used a tablet for a little over a year but for heavy typesetting I'd switch back to mouse.. Now I only use my apple mouse with nipple and wouldn't go back...
