I dont have my installation CD for the MAC and I heard somewhere that I can create a backup from my current settings in case I need to re-install. I want to wipe everything off and start from "scratch" is that possible without in original installation CD?

other way round. a system reinstall from the original cd/dvd wont effect your data.
either way, it sounds like you need to go to your local friendly apple store and buy the 10.4 osx software box.

yeah, im thinking of waiting for the next version which should come out soon. I dont know if I still need the original for the upgrade :(

Knowing other versions of OS X and how they install, I wouldn't think you'd need Tiger to install Leopard, there won't be an 'upgrade' version, they only made one version available.
