I'm doing an installation and part of it is to have a small bit of descriptive text next to each image. How is this done? Does someone paint it? Or is it always done with vinyl? Anyone know?

Vinyl is the cleanest/easiest.

When do you need it done? I have a friend with a cutter...

Anyone know companies that print the transfers so you can just stick it on and peel it off?

I tried to do the same thing and hit the wall (pun!) trying to get it done. You have to find a sign maker who does hand lettering which is increasingly rare. Seems anyone with access to a vinyl cutter nowadays thinks they can open a sign shop.
Eventually we ran out of funding before it was finished so I used transparencies with those clear mounting squares:

I am looking into doing relatively large type about 6" and up in my apartment workspace. This seems like it would be relatively easy, I wonder why it's not.

i used to work at an exhibit firm and for some wall applications we would use old school rub down type - we had a resource that output them from our files but I've forgotten the name. It worked really well though.
- I'd love to see this. Do you have an example?yaphi
- rubdown transfers is what they're commonly called. I found this link but there are many more. http://www.allout-gr…grunttt
