I have an intel duo 20' Imac.
2gb ram, 2ghz processor. 250 gig HD.Yay or Nay on trading it for a 13' black Macbook matte screen with the same specs (besides hard drive - 80gb in the laptop)
I plan on studying abroad/touring in the next year so my Imac will just be sitting there. Lonely.
I just feel weird trading and then all of a sudden I have a tiny screen, BUT a computer I can travel with. Yikes.

i have a laptop but never use it for travel...maybe we should trade...i have the exact same specs as your imac but in a laptop.
just know the battery life is less than 2 hours...and thats with just leaving it idel, if you are using it without power the batter life dwindles down rather fast.

matte screen? I wish blacbooks came in matte!
what processor, Core Duo or Core 2 Duo?I have a blackbook with an external screen and wouldn't swap for an imac

yeh, make sure you get a MATTE screen as the glossy ones are very difficult to see out in the sun or with any glare.

They are both the first generation Intel duo's. I know mine is anyway.
I think this is black with matte? Or are you talking about the Macbook pro? (the one that cannot be simultaneously black and matte that is)
The new Apple denominations for things are utterly confusing to me.

i meant in general, i didnt know the mbpros were only silver,,,
either way make sure if you have a laptop that you have a matte screen.

Oh absolutely, I puked a little in my mouth when I found out they were even coming out with gloss in general. Who the F wants to design with the lights out besides like CGI dudes?
But reputation wise, do these Macbooks run better or worse than the Imac?

Are there any monitors that come close to the Cinema displays?
Or ones that cost like 50 bucks but are huge and don't compare?

20" Dells are solid. Formac's are nice as well, but not as good as Dell for the money.

if it's black and 13" it isn't matte, unless somebody swapped the panels
go with epill who afair has a mb pro 15.4", it's better value
dell 2007fpw is the cinema equivalent, not the cheaper model
