Sagmeisters website doesn't make you wish you could swallow your own tongue. That website is the ugliest, over-the-top, piece of shit I have ever seen.
- pango0
yes ugly indeed but it sure look like hell lot of fun~! :D
for me at least....
- neue75_bold0
the design reflects her music - busy, dirty, raw and reflective of her cultural background.. I agree it's not something I'd easily find myself doing, but at least it communicates and being somewhat ugly by todays standards of hyper-polished over-design, it would stand out from the crowd...

^ yup

By that logic - If a guy who runs a septic tank cleaning business ever calls me...I'll be sure and tell him that he should promote his business by making his brochures smell like shit.
:P
- Jaline0
Her artwork is different, her music is different.
It goes together.
- tommyo0
I guess you don't get my comparison? If your goal is to reflect your business, stand out and if you didn't consider how offensive it might be...then making shit scented brochures is perfect for someone in the septic tank business.
Don't get me wrong. I really like this album. She's not THAT different (musically) than a lot of stuff out there, but the web site ... is annoying as fuck. I can't spend more then 10 seconds on her site. If you can tell me with a straight face that this wasn't done, with the intention, that it should stand out like a sore thumb at all costs...then you're a better girl than I.
- tommyo0
Trust me, I'm all for 'different' and 'interesting'...I hate really polished air-headed stuff. But this is what I would call 'assaulting for the sake of attention.'

hapless or hopeless, pick your poison...

yo tommy
i like the site, the album art, etc. punk like you never see anymore.
that's what's great about it.
- Jaline0
I'm not disagreeing with you, tommy, but it's a cultural thing as well. There's a percentage that screams out "I want attention", but the other percent is actually her being herself.
- ethered0
this album is okay... it bangs for being such a huge mess of a fusion.
But its a little overrated imho...

I'm tighter than R. Kelly in his teens

hahaha alright then I'll just toss this into the basket of me just being too old then. If it resonates then so be it. I just find it tasteless...and just for the record, there are only two things in the 'Okay I'm getting old' Basket...MIA's artwork/website, and some lean like a cholo song my little cousin plays nonstop. Both of these make me want to hurt people.
- Jaline0
it's completely fine for you to feel that way. I feel that way about lots of things.
damn hipsters and chavs

Tyo, though I don't know your age, I don't think you should blame your feelings on that. Just a little surprised how much emotion this evokes for you.

I dont know her music at all, but im playing with her in 2 weeks. Shal I bring along your comments to her? Or at teh very least, stick a QBN sticker to her face for her set?

So I think there are a handful of memorable songs-
"Hussel"
"$20" (mostly because of the Blue Monday sample and Pixies lyrics pull)
"Paper Planes"
"Come Around" (Best song on the album and most likely because Timbaland produced it)The rest is complete crap in my opinion. And her bashing Diplo now doesn't sit well with me.
