I have a box, and I want to apply a material to it, but how do I apply a different material to just a single face?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

add an editable poly to the modifier stack
on top of that add a UVW Mapping modifier...change it to face
make ur materials for each face
go to editable poly
select the face u want to add a material to
drag the material from the material editor onto the face
do this for each face/material you need

Cool. Thnx!
- CygnusZero20
Damn, that doesn't work. It's applying the material to the entire object.

In Maya you can simply apply materials to individual faces. Could you try that in Max?

I would just render it out and put the apple on in photoshop...have a little more control that way.

That's what I'm trying using the edit poly modifier, but it just applies the mateiral to the entire object.

If you use an editable mesh instead of poly and do what the other guy said that will work.

select a poly and assign it a material. don't do faces, do polys.

Yep, that did work. It doesnt work with editable poly.
thanks.
