I would imagine that the iMac is not aimed at designers. I was pissed when I heard that they werent redesigning the feckin macbooks yet. I have a powerbook g4 that is 3 years old and is about to shit the bed. I really want an new laptop but refuse to buy a macbook pro that looks exactly the same as my powerbook. I want some new innovative design ie. something besides titanium, no more slot loading dvd etc...they have to improve this soon, surely?

Looks like the Dell UltraSharp 2007WTP.
Honestly though, why designers continue to buy these imac's is madness. For the cash you pay to have a so called "better system" you could get a superior PC in terms of technical specifications.
I get the feeling designers just get Macs to be in the "Me Too" group.
It's true though, more and more designers are choosing PC's over their Mac counter parts because they know there getting more for their money, which is true.
Personally, i'd rather my PC be smoking with the applications i.e. running multiple at the same time, with no slowdown or delay than how the system looks from an external point of view.

there are two kinds of people in this world: those who buy Macs and love em, and those who get angry that people buy Macs and love em.
HAHAHAHHAHA, jk...
but seriously, I'm not sure what the "me too" group is, but I rock a Mac because I really do enjoy working on em. I've worked with both PCs and Macs since 1995 and my favoritism has leaned towards Mac over the years. It's safe to say that at least 90% of my friends own PCs and to be honest, I could care less if they do or not. Illustrator, video games and porn, it's all the same to me no matter what the platform; either one can be juiced to specific needs, and if you have the money, then spend it the way you see fit... to from A to B do you want to walk, ride a bike, drive a Focus or rock a Porsche?

the new iMac seems meant as a home media centre, i just set one up for a girlfriend of mine the other night. the 24" screen is lovely and damn if yon dvds don't look absolutely ace on it. the tv card thingmie is a doddle to set up and for these purposes, plus a bit of light office use, i think it's a grand machine.

so para, you and your girlfriend... what type of DVDs were you watching...

if anyone feels the need to create an application on a pc thats as smooth as the ilife stuff then i'd be happier

Almost every other program you can get for the Mac is better than iLife. Which isn't bad itself. Just that most people only use 1 of the 5 programs.
