If you have a file with 20+ folders (each folder containing several elements) and they are all open, is there a way to close them all at once... instead of manually closing them one by one?

close all

Yeah... that's my goal...
Where would this "Close All" function be?

apple + W+ shift

Apple+Shift+W --> Close all open PS files
What I'm looking for is a way to close all folders within the layers palette of one PS file. Is there a specific command to do this?

just click dragging across all the eyes isn't quick enough?

if you right click on the little arrow that collapses the folder, there is an option to "close all other groups"
this is the closest thing to what you're looking for. it will close all folders except the one that is currently selected.
good enough ? : )

I'm looking for a way to "close" all folders, not turn them off.

lambsy... brilliant. thanks! didn't know that function was there.
Works perfectly.

ozhanlion... nah... I was just waiting around, hoping someone could give me a fast solution. I think I lost about 2-3 hours worth of billable hours.

Thanks for the tip.
It was amazing how misunderstood the question was.

For future reference on this issue... if you hold down the "Apple/Command" key and then click on a layer arrow, you can open and close all layers. Pretty nifty... thought I'd pass it along.

off topic but a funny thing, a .psd get smaller in kb if you hide all layers and then save it :)

Use layer comps, button at the top of the nav.

This article might have been posted here already somewhere, but it's worth mentioning here - the shortcut you were wondering about is mentioned -
