I just picked up an Audio Technica AT4040 mic and it's been great. Planning on getting a nice ribbon mic for vocals soon.
I've been using a Presonus Eureka channel strip that's got a really clean pre amp. At one time I was thinking about getting one of those blue tube pre-amps and swapping out the tube for a good quality vintage one, the tube that ships with it is shite.
For my DAW I use Digital Performer and it's been perfect for recoding anything I've thrown at it. I just need a better A/D-D/A converter now.

I like that AT 4040 a lot, I actually think vocals are the only thing it doesnt do very well.
I have a bluebird which is real good for vocals, but lacks a little on the low end of certain instruments
