Pentax Lens

I recently got an older Pentax.. ME Super.. and I am trying to get a Pentax 28mm fixed lens. (I love wide angle)
But they go for a boatload on theBay. I was wondering if anyone knew if it was worth it to get a pentax lens over other brands.. and what I should get if other brands are as good or better.

How much do you consider a "boatload"? Looks like you could probably pick up a 28/2.8 for about $50 on there. Or look around more, here is one for $30 in Grand Rapids. http://grandrapids.craigslist.or…
Pentax lenses are of much better quality than most of the other aftermarket k-mount ones. If you decide to go that route though avoid the Vivitar lenses.

I guess Im cheap.. but after everything they are usually about 70 bucks on ebay.
I guess it seems like a lot because I got the camera for 40.

I'd look for a SMC (coated) lens, making sure there are no scratches nor fungus
The lens will work with every digital pentax slr too

Is SMC the brand? Or does that just insure that it is coated?
And why coated? Scratch proof or better pictures ORRR both?

Pentaxs SMC coatings are insane. I put a cigar out on my 28mm and didn't effect the lens at all. Strong shit.

earlier on that week i was talking to an old photographer who was a pentax rep when the smc lens were released. as a promo pentax told the reps to use a lens as a ashtray to show how strong the coatings were. i wanted to try it myself. and i was drunk.
