I'm trying to get a gallery together of "preserved rooms" for a project of one of my clients. The rooms would be places untouched in a number of years. Typically, it would be because the inhabiter died, or went off to war, or something. I know this is an odd request, but if you know of any (besides Freud, Faulkner and Wharton), please drop me a line...

it would be interesting to take one particular preserved room and take the same picture of it every day

it would be interesting to have a dead dog and some rotting fruit in these preserved rooms and take the same picture of them every day.

Thanks Shari. This particular client always has fun, quirky ideas like this.

I'm no pro, but I took some pics a couple weeks ago in this totally forgotten town in south Alabama, on our way back from FL. Interesting shops that look like someone left work one day, any old day, locked up, and 30 years later still hasn't returned.

I'll pull them off the camera and let you know if they're any good.

I haven't cleaned my bedroom in quite a while. I guess I could send you pictures if that helps any.

Do preserved houses count?
Plenty of those up here in mass (most have at least one room that's preserved)

The Peabody Essex Museum in Salem imported an entire traditional house from China and preserved it exactly the way they found it, newspapers and chamber pots and all:

They preserved a wall of Andre Breton's studio in the Pompidou in Paris, it totally bowled me over. Jam-packed with inspiration.

when i think of a preserved room, i think of houses with a deceased family member and how that vacant room is like a second grave.
not to be a wet-blanket on your project. it's just a concept that's always creeped me out a bit.

thanks greedo, some great links. and you're right, blaw, it's an eerie project...but nonetheless, interesting. that's pretty much what this client is all aobut.
