Do you have 1GB in one slot, and 512 MB in the other?

i know thats "bad", but i have 1 GB RAM in one slot I bought from Apple. The other 512 was already in the MacBook. i heard to utilize the dual memory thangy that the RAM "sticks" need to match exactly.

It shouldn't cause many problems or anything, but just checking.

RAM can go bad- i have had it happen in laptops, desktops and servers.
switch it with another one and see if it continues. heat cycles can cause them to physically fail, at times.

it's probly not full
all those different kinds of ram, only two are real
the others are like placeholders where stuff used to be, so it's kinda keeping it fresh in case it needs it again soon

From Apple Support docs: "You shouldn't worry when the free memory is low". (Basically OSX puts the available RAM to some use rather than just having it sit doing nothing)
