I'm pretty sure I read somewhere he never wanted to release Avant Garde for the Forementioned reasons, again this guy couldn't be nearer to the truth..

he never wanted the avant garde gothique alternate revealed the public. cause the formed the logo of the avant garde magzine.
Ok at the moment there is an overkill of it, but i still see nice stuff done with it.

A while back there was an article about the history of in Grfik. Was not indepth enough IMO but it was a good overview
