what exactly do 3rd and 2nd place logos look like?
- oldelpaso0
something like this :D
- digilee0
what's your beef with that? 1500 smacks aint bad for a prize.
- Jaline0
Exactly.

(Jul 7 07, 16:38)you really think that they won't "know" the winner?
even if they receive a submission they like, nothing is in place to prevent them ripping a submission after a "winner" is announced
- Jaline0
Would you be fine with it if there was something in place?
Some people here are very negative either way.

$1,500 is shit for a logo design! The full $2,500 is minimally acceptable. Anyway, most Graphic Design organizations shun competitions like this because it lowers our professional status.
- digilee0
melc shut the fuck up.
if you think that the prize money is shit then don't enter.
personally, I would say that if I entered I wouldn't win and, yes, they probably will 'know' the winner, but so fucking what.
I don't care for the comp so I don't enter. There are a lot of people who would jump at the chance to enter and possibly win that kind of money.
It's better than a lot of comps where the only prize is a fucking t-shirt.
- digilee0
oh, and mel ... 'photos' is plural meaning more than one.

(Jul 8 07, 03:41)I agree.
- Rand0
I'm going to submit a t shirt to threadless
- version30
ex-fucking-actly, Rand!
and how come i have to give them an email address and become a member just to read the fine print in the competition details?
spec work is spec work, no matter what amount is offered as a "prize".
with a budget like that, though it is minimal for a branded mark, it would benefit TC to seek out a designer whose style they like and budget those funds for variations and refinement of a logo.
even if only 4 submissions are received, 1 designer isn't getting paid; and that ain't cool.

There are so many contests like this. This is probably the wrong forum to post in, but at the same time there aren't many design forums around.
It's a contest. If you don't want to, don't enter. But some people may be interested in it.
It clearly is the same as Threadless. Lots of people work extra hard to get their design up there and it never will be.
All in moderation.
- MelC0
That was my point, but you put is so much more eloquently.
I'm not even going to go on a rant about this but Graphic Design as a profession is brought down a notch by people who think they can get us to "compete" for work.http://www.gdc.net/for_business/…
So, digilee, I think that speaks for itself.
- Jaline0
That's a good article.
I still think designers just starting out or people who need some cash would enter this contest.
- version30
Jaline, I hope you see my point here. There are many rapes, world wide everyday, leading to insecurity, disease, unwanted pregnancy, and death. is it okay if you become one of their statistics?
their abundance does not justify their existence.
