what makes you think its a font?

it says TTC

yes, that may well be, what it doesn't look like it's from a packaged font.
It'd be a cinch to do in Illustrator

ah I see. I'm not a font kinda person, or illustrator for that matter! I'm after a decent font for Café Royal - my shop. I kind of like OCR A STD for the logo. Suggestions welcome.

Tell us more about your shop. What do you sell? What are the core values of the brand? Who do you want to sell to? The more descriptive words you can use the better my type suggestions will be.

ah, i'd originally seen it as a bitmap font extruded - but i don't think that'd be appropriate for your needs. What's wrong with your current, hand-drawn, style? I think it works well.
I love your Doors photo series!

Ok, we're a zine and underground press store. We publish our own magazine / book. Core values I guess are making, sourcing and providing decent underground or alternative publications of one kind or another. Our market is narrow but varied. We're keen to stay ad free, staying true to the 'spirit of zines', kind of raw lo-fi, home made etc etc

Ha cheers, I have so many more to add to that one day!
I get bored easily, I like the hand drawn thing but I really like the simplicity of the TTC site and the left hand margin. Maybe I should keep the existing one for a while!

its a big vague...
"alternative publications of one kind or another."
aimed at... artists, skaters, surfer, ballerinas, cofee shop owners, students..
"We publish our own magazine / book. " what kinda stuff goes in the mag??
the most lo fi i can think of is Helvetica medium/bold or Akzidenz.. run it through a letter press and it will become old school.. ..
Fette Black (monsiour spiekermanns type of choice)
Clarendon could run nice lo-fi

Your initial sample also reminds me of Gothic Gothic.
http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/typ…Your shop sounds cool, but description still broad. Can you show me more examples of type you like?
- Atkinson0
Well I guess we focus on drawing. I suppose we could be categorised into skate / punk / slacker culture but really my arguement is that these things are high art - I'm writing a paper on this right now. As for font examples, I have only used helvetica / arial in the past, like I say, I'm not a font person. Maybe I'll hand draw the image, I wanted the font to be quite crisp though, in contrast to the hand drawn zines, but using a font that relates to what we do. I dont want cliched retro or helvetica really. We aren't a design site. Something punk/retro/simple/not fussy/ clean.

Yeah, I really think hand drawing your logo would represent your org best.
