I've been living in WLA for 3 years. Looking for new stuff to do. any suggestions for a local?

Drive up the PCH to Neptune's Net for all kinds of fried seafood, a slew of bikers, and a row of port-a-poties.
Check out G 1988 on Melrose near La Brea, then cross the street and wait on line for a Pink's hot dog.
Drive up past Santa Barbara to mini wine country (Los Olivios and Solvang) and discover new wines and drink yourself silly.

just 3.21 inches have fallen in downtown los angeles in the past twelve months, closer to death valley's numbers than the normal average of 15.14 inches.

well LA is technically a Desert

actually, I believe it has more of a mediterranean climate than a desert climate, technically. I just discovered that Topanga Canyon is a different world, go up there and have breakfast at Pat's Topanga Grill. It's like being in a northern California town...that happens to be hot. Umm... and Malibu Seafood, past Pepperdine is better than Neptunes net, IMO. Paradise cove can be fun for greasy food and beer on a private beach.

I thought there was a thread just like this one about a week ago...maybe search for that one too. There might be some good ideas.
I've heard Runyon Canyon is really nice. Of course there are some decent beaches. Lots of venues to see bands if you're into that sort of thing. Venice is great on the weekends, you can really see some odd folks out there.
I've been here since Sept, unfortunately I've been swamped with work since Jan so I haven't been able to explore much. :-(

I was in laurel canyon during some wildfires in the 80s, sitting on the deck doing coke and watching helicopters dump seawater on the flames below
