Anyone make purchases above $1000 on eBay?
I'm just nervous and want to know if trusted sellers with great feedback and cheaper prices are worth it. I'm sure they are legit, but...yeah. I've made several small purchases. Just nothing big.

Yes, but I met them in person and paid in cash.

I've talked to some people who have bought stuff from him and they all were happy about their products. I still want to be careful, but he has returned all of my emails super fast. The price is only like $300 less than the actual price too, so it doesn't seem shady.

I was doing an intensive search of him online (heh), and found the following references:

(his name is under "objecterie" section as macman812)http://www.micropctalk.com/forum…

(search for "Brian" on the page)

Personally I wouldn't buy a laptop from ebay. Unless it was brand-new in an un-opened box.
- Jaline0
It is.
I think this guy is legit, so I'm going to talk to some more people, make sure I'm protected (he only accepts Paypal anyway), and then go for it. He replies to my emails with a .mac email account and is very prompt (he can also add anything by Apple if asked, for extra cash, of course).

by the way, the price I would pay for a black macbook if I bought it from him would be around $1700. With Apple.ca it would be around $2022.

(that includes upgraded RAM).

I bought a Hasselblad camera two months ago, $820, my very first purchase or even attempt on ebay.
I looked the guy up, Director of Photography in CA, was good enough for me and the camera was a great deal, everything went fine.

in your case I think I'd wonder about the warranty, and how much would the discount be on the education store.

do it through paypal on a credit card, you're pretty much covered that way. whatever goes wrong, they'll have to eat it.

I have to check about shipping first. If it's UPS, I'm not buying. Their rates are ridiculous.

(Jul 9 07, 17:59)Same warranty as the Apple store. I'm buying Apple Care anyway.
The discount for students is $100, which is crappy.

After thinking about it more, I think I am just going to avoid the hassle and stick with Apple.ca.
Customs fees for Canada are not worth it.

anyone ever bought from this guy? ??
seems to have a ton of feedback... saw the applecare might be bogus, but i'm just looking @ getting a macbook pro.... are they legit?
anyone?

You could always use an escrow service. I think eBay actually recommends it for orders above $1000.
With escrow they will hold your payment and not release it to the seller until you have actually received and inspected the product you bought.
