Has anyone successfully saved down an indesign CS3 file to a lower version of Indesign? I have CS and have updated everything I can.
Anything else I need to check or do?

most of the production artists where i work are on cs2, and when a new person came they got a new mac w/cs3. they tried everything and eventually had to buy cs2 and remove cs3 from thew new person's machine until they're ready to upgrade everyone.
if anyone has a workaround i'd love to hear it!

yeah, i'm sure adobe has their success stories.
Every other program they have, has the ability to save down, what gives?

I use the indesign interchange format. works for me and everyone else.
just make sure there are no quirks in the file that you open. I've seen first hand some problems in the conversions.
File > export > *indesign interchange

Quirks meaning?
Anyway to give some specific examples? Drops shadows etc?
thanks gucci, you've shed some light on another project for me once before.

No worries, mate. Always glad to help.
Quirks meaning the last time I tried to export a 300+ page doc. I found that some picture boxes had a 1pt black stroke on them (when they were blank before).
I had noticed my drop shadows and text formatting were all tact when opened in CS2 from CS3 - if that eases your mind at all.
Just have a keen eye when you open it up in an older version. It helps if it's a really small project - but a big document I would warn you against converting.

yeah its a 6 page doc.
can't get it to open up period.
i'll have the boss lady peek through it and see if there is anything she can clean up in the file.

I've also used the indesign interchange format with success
