hi i'm trying to export a flash banner as a gif animation for a backup incase some sites dont use flash, but the end result looks so ugly no matter what i change, and theres loads of frames so its really really slow as a gif and large, been reading flash is useless at exporting to gifs

sorry is this true? what do you normally do?

exporting to gif sucks in Flash, I usually export (stills) to PNG and convert to GIF in other software.
You might be able to export a sequence of PNGs, never tried that

thanks, bit of a precise question now, usually how frames can you have in a gif of 468 x 60 whilst keeping it under 39k?

Had to do this recently - yes, it does suck.
I ended up exporting at many times the output dimensions, then running it through Photoshop and Imageready to scale it back down again.
Still looked a bit shit. I hate Flash.

(Jul 4 07, 03:23)That utterly depends on what you're moving around. If it's a single pixel evolving anim - then hundreds of frames. If you're changing the entire image - maybe 3 or 4? Again, this depends on the complexity of your image content.
