help me out here, we're looking for a printer for short runs in-house and for proofing, we need one like this:
A3 (at least)
can print on thick (1mm at least) stock.go.
thanks.

I've got an Epson r2400, which i got particularly because it can handle A3 and thicker stocks.
Does a pretty good job, though I haven't used it as much as I'd've liked and I'm still at the learning-about-its foibles stage, of which it appears to have more than my previous, darling (though aged) Canon i9100, which also did the same but didn't have roll-printing capability (which was the clincher for the Epson).
So far - I found it fiddly to colour match (likely my own damn-fool fault), it appears to guzzle ink at an extraordinary rate and sometimes it plumb-fails to print to edges. Otherwise, when it does work, the results are rich colours through to dark and it's relatively quick.
It came well-recommended by all and sundry, so don't read too much into the negative aspects of my experience thusfar.

Oops, I meant 'laser printer' and your advice wasn't that great anyway, but hey - at least you took some time to try and help, I should offer some meagre thanks for that.
