Anyone driven it? What is it like...18 hours? What's the best/quickest route vs. most scenic? Could I do it in 3 days and not kill myself?
- spendogg0
I did it in one shot once 20 hours - not reccomended.
Drive to vegas spend a couple of nights and then mosey on home.

I'm with the boy though! Was gonna just fly back after driving from seattle > SF then thought it would be fun to drive back to denver in the rental and see some fun places along the way.

haha- about 20 times i have.
80 is the quickest, but not scenic until about Glenwood canyon.
Hwy50 is consistently rated as countries most lonely hwy... and it is. it is very peaceful in an odd kind of way, but nothing out there. takes longer as well.
man, i wish i was at my house in Tahoe right now so we could go out on the water and hang! go to Tahoe- you must.
- madirish0
it is an even 20 from SF to denver. i have done it in 16 before to the bay area... but i am suprised i was not jailed along the way. :)
fuck going to vegas i say- see Elko for what it really is!!

there are a few ways to go that are scenic - i will get you a route. you have to go through utah, its beautiful.
- madirish0
do not speed in utah!!
go ahead- just ask me how i know...
- jevad0
google maps says SF > Denver in 18 hrs through Nevada and Utah...doesn't look like there's much along the way to see though.
Maybe I should make it a trip in and of itself later on instead of trying to cram it onto the back of a seattle > SF drive....
- madirish0
haha- in reality...
...there is not shit to see at all. :)
but, it is a nice drive and trust me, you will not make a trip of this, just for fun. i say do it!

i did that drive in one shot after an old band i was in had our van burn to the ground outside of SF when we were on tour. it was about 20 hours in a tiny rental car to get back home and one of the most miserable drives of my life.

hahahahahha

watch out for that one cop in utah in that one town who always tries to get you to admit having weed in your car. He's relentless.
50 is the one to take if you have the time
- madirish0
srsly. that 1 cop has nailed so many people i know along that entrance into SLC. bastard.
sorry about the van klassen- bummer.
- material-10
he plays the good cop bad cop with you and your passengers while he has you separated. such a prick.
One friend has a warrant in Utah because of him. She never paid the 700 dollar fine for possession
- madirish0
yup. you nailed it dude.
i was stopped with a buddy coming back from a weekend of DH riding in oo-taw in a lifted, mudded-out, '92 suburban full of gear and DH bikes.
fucker kept us for like an hour. we both just sat there laughing as he took us aside then together, then aside again. it was the 2 dudes, bikes, colorado plates that made him do it. such a cock.
he got nuthin' though on us. threatened everything and finally when we said: "go ahead, call the town in- just try" he realized there was not one big enough in the county to tow it. LOL. was so awesome to see his face when it cam over the radio cranked up to 11.
love the snow and riding in that state, but eff utah in the mouth otherwise.

I've driven form LA to Denver so many times I barely could count I always thought Utah was the speed zone compared to NV, CO, and CA...maybe Ive just been luck but it seems like Ive never run into a state trooper in Utah...and most of the time I was towing Jeeps to shows out in LV or California, so I wasn't going crazy fast...just 10 to 15 miles over.

jack, it just this one town that has the issue. They got a speed trap in that piece. hwy 50 direction, bTW.

cop to jevads kid: I know you have some buds in the car
jevads kids: whats that?
cop: you know, weed.
jevads kids: daddy, whats weed?
jevad: I'll explain later when this asshat isn't around. tit.

It's not a bad drive, much of it is very beautiful. I did a motorcycle trip along this route last summer. I just took the 80 the entire way I think, with stops along the way in Reno, SLC and Co.
In a car you could do it in 16 or so hrs, a moto took me a bit longer, I only have a 150 mile ass.
