i really like that scheme as is, but the layout is blog/corporate. seems to lack personality that the text is conveying

Nothing is really standing out on that page. & By that I mean nothing is really drawing my eye. I think it's a combo of both layout and over use of grey, black and white text.
I don't know why but everything seems backwards.

i agree - but unfortunately the construct of a blog/jumpoff page don't lend well to a strong visual hierarchy
