Heath Ledger is most likely awesome in this film, and the role of the Joker will probably be his most popular character. But I did think that he was getting there with his character in Brokeback Mountain. I saw something there that I didn't see before. Sounds cheesy, but it's what I thought. Batman will be much more mainstream anyway.

I saw the sneak preview on Thursday at midnight... air conditioning in the theatre broke down so it was like 34ºC... what made it more of an experience was the fact that there was a power outage half way into the film (the part when the Joker was about to burn the cash)... everything was pitch black... no emergency light... no nothing for about 5 mins... freaky as shit but really added to the experience... Anyways, they got the movie back up and running and we ended up getting 2 free passes each... not bad eh

# 1 on imdb (9.7/10)... Impressive for a superhero flick

The only thing weird in this film is the way Batman talk... Man! could it be more subwoofer in that voice? Its exagerated.
- totally annoying... but think of it, hes Bruce Wayne... he has to disguise his voice

In the next film, Batman should join a death metal band. Voice is perfect.
"De-cayyyyyyyy!!!"
"De-stroyyyyyyy!!!"

ledger was awesome. the lip-licking kinda bothered me though, seemed unnecessary and distracting. and as twisted and as crazy as he was no one ever seemed that scared of him, not even in the scene where he pulls the knife on rachel. she barely even flinched.
but otherwise he was brilliant, and oldman was suberb.
supremely entertaining. nolan is a genius
- drugs ;)Jaline
- there is no way that character was on drugs... i assume it was a nervous tick, but his character was so calculated7point34
- doesn't seem like the type that would be nervous at all. i loved the film, just a few things bugged me about it7point34
- it's supposed to be idiosynchratic.
oldman is always the best.sputnik2

I haven't seen it yet but it sounds like a remake. Batman has been fighting the joker for years and has never gotten him.
- uh no. Not a remake at all.
harlequino - what? I guess you don't know about the comics...Jaline
- but aren't all the stories remakes? don't they keep telling the stories over and over?? i think so...robotron3k
- There's a mythology, but not the same stories, no. Even if they were, what's wrong with reinterpretation?harlequino
- One person's 'Hamlet' is different from another. I think this is just as valid. And timeless.harlequino
- uh no. Not a remake at all.

Eh, some spoilers I guess towards the end.

Nothing like waltzing into a movie thinking there is no way it can actually be as good as you already planned for it to be and it being even better.Batman Begins was so fantastic, that I didn't want to hold out too much hope for number two but really, really wanted it to be grand.
It most definitely was.
I'm not a big DC fan, so changing some origins, and the like doesn't bother me as much as some people, hehe (Fantastic Four initially got me so angry I started yelling at the screen).
There were definitely some parts where everyone's acting had me laughing at them, especially Harvey's voice and mannerisms after the whole pwned thing, haha. But the transformation with the Nurse was great. Maggie Gylenahaflkadsjlkj did look old as shit.
As far as crazy menacing and the like, and best villain ever ... I mean this movie was pretty over hyped and still kind of is for what it's worth. It's really fantastic movie, but let's not get crazy.
I mean, I loved the character but everyone is right - he does a lot of fucked up shit, but no one seems afraid, more just, "Dude seriously." That being said, it's a fucking shame he won't be in any more installments since I don't see anyone really wanting to follow that up.
"Do I look like a guy with a plan?" hahah, man, the Joker's voice is/was hilarious!
I don't think they gave Bruce Wayne nearly enough screentime. And yes the Batman voice seemed more over the top than the last one.
Looks like the Riddler is going to be the next main villain, and I really hope so. I hope they write him more like the Animated Series Riddler as opposed to the Frank Gorshin/ Jim Carrey versions.
Though Frank Gorshin's was pretty ridiculous.
- if they do riddler i want to see him played like "die with a vengeance" or the "saw" films7point34
- and +1 no one was scared of him,... deflates his character a lot.7point34
- Haha yea, he jsut did some real fucked up shit that I thought was hysterical.********
- He didn't really want to be scary I think though. That wasn't really his intentions.********
- watch me make this pencil disappear. THUMP! ta daahhh!7point34
- hahahah yea!********
- I just read the first 4 paragraphs. YaaaaaaaaaaaaayJaline
- I think the Joker has always been one of the best villains. He was definitely scary in the cartoon, but that's not all he was.Jaline
- was. There were other levels to his creepiness. As long as those are presented well, I'm fine with his characterization.Jaline

In this version of Batman, I really like the villains based in gritty reality, rather than the comicy ones. Hey I love those, too, just within the comic world. It works there.
In the Nolan films, I love the mafia types, and how Ras and Scarecrow were portrayed. The Joker was just the right amount of loony bravado. The fact that the makeup was all smeary was nice and psychotic.
If they do the riddler or penguin, or keep pushing it in that direction, I just hope it's kept in that same realistic range as these films. Also, the thing I loved about Ledger playing the joker, was that it seemed that he was really the Devil as the Devil might appear on earth.
- i can see the riddler working. not the penguin, i'd prefer not to see him or catwoman7point34
- except in porn though, right?harlequino
- i've just had a mental image of danny devito flippering michelle pfeiffer and now i've vomitted all in my lap7point34

it was awesome.. and yes... read about bale... is this gonna turn into one of those cursed franchises?
- CygnusZero20
Saw it twice. It's okay. Not very artistic or creative at all. Looks like any other blockbuster shot in Chicago. Not really any cool looking sets. All just regular city scenes. I still think the 1st Burton Batman is better than these last 2.

This movie was pretty good. Depends what kind of films you are into. All of these super hero movies seem the same to me, though this one was better than the others I have seen. The way Christian Bale talks when he is in his Batman getup is downright annoying. The film touches on a lot of political issues, and I found some of the things the Joker says towards the end pretty thought provoking. Made me think of the war in the Middle East, and how some pro-war Americans think of the people as disposable and that it's all for the greater good. How you may here massive media coverage on 1 dead American soldier, when 100 innocent iraqis died the same day. Regardless of this being reported in America, the underlying message being communicated is that American lives are more important than anyone in the Mid East.
The funny thing is I talked to a friend about it and he got the opposite message from the film :)

it was a good movie plain and simple , I would like to see a voice off between batman and darth vader

I didn't like the movie. It scared me. Liked the trailers for watchmen and this other one with Keanu Reeves

what other voice is he supposed to put on? everyone would be going 'hang on a minute... you're bruce wayne!'
it was mentioned in the first one that the point was to instill fear in people, and again people have a problem with his voice, but not that he is dressed like a bat
