Hello Boston people.
I will be there from Friday the 29th through Sunday the 1st for a wedding reception.
Staying at the Seaport Hotel at the World Trade Center.
Now, when I was a kid my Mom lived in Boston for about 6 years from 1987 to 1994. I think I saw just about everything you could do there: the aquarium, all the historical stuff, lots of walking, taking the subway, Red Sox games, etc.
Not been there in 13 years.
What shouldn't be missed these days? We're making reservations for dinner somewhere on Friday, looking up the best seafood places (any suggestions are great). We'll be at a party on Saturday night but we'll have half the day Friday and most of the day Saturday to walk around and do things.
Any suggestions? I'd love to go to the aquarium again, North End, Fanuel Hall... pack in as much as I can.
I know there are so many new things there now, it will probably be very different.
Thanks for your tips!

My suggestion for dinner is Neptune Oyster in the North End you can kill two birds with one stone by giong to dinner and visting the north end i one visit.
Stay away from Legal Seafood it is not that good. It's ok but no where near Boston's best.
You will be right next to the Legal Test Kitchen (LTK) and that is pretty decent. More of a lunch or drinks and apps type of place and its right across the street from your hotel.Also... the Aquarium... not as good as you remember. It's small and while fun over very quickly! But you are ina great location because the new Museum of Modern Art just opened up right down the streeet from your hotel. It's amazing!
You are ina great spot for a wuick trip to the Hub. Walking distance to Fanuel Hall, the North end and tons of fun stuff.
Like most towns... try and stay away from tourist trap places... it is not the best representation of the city.
Have fun.

legal sea foods of course, and ltk is their new "hip" offshoot right next to the seaport same quality food more affordable
you also have the new institute contemporary art right up the road from ltk and your hotel..also castle island is a nice walk
the sox are playing tx that weekend, so tickets might be available, and cambridge/haravard suare usually has something going on
other than that boston is kind of a bore, if you have been here already and done the tourist stuff...not a ton of community type activites/festivals

We were going to get tix for the Red Sox game on Friday, but I've been there three times, and it's our only free night, baseball is not really what I want to do. And they were $95 for bleachers.
Fried calamari is pretty much my favorite food in the world - how is it at Neptune?
I've read that the Daily Catch is rather good.
- artgod330
You can get Calamari anywher in town. Especially if you walk down to the North End. But I'll give Legal's its credit in that they do a great calamari (the fry it with sliced pepperoncini's) really what they do well. I have ever had the calamari at Neptune so I don't know but judging by everything else they do I am sure it is fantastic!

So any tips on best area for shopping - clothes and such?
I was much younger when I used to go there and not so into that stuff. More for my girlfriend, where will she enjoy spending her money - cool boutiques and such? Decent mix of guys stores would be good as well.

newbury street is your best bet for spending money on shopping.

go walk down the old stretch of i-93, the big dig, my man! If you remember boston downtown at all, this is hands down the biggest change. Getting to the north end by foot is much nicer now.
Def the new ICA; i personally really dislike Legal Seafoods (tourist trap), how about Aura? ( http://boston-hotel.seaportbosto… , click on "Aura restaurant"). But that's definitely high end. Right near the ICA/Seaport area. Or Anthony's pier 4, if you like a little original townie flavor.
Also, great view of the boston skyline from down there.
Shopping still newbury st or harvard sq, the harborfest will be going on ( http://www.bostonharborfest.com/… , meh, but it's something to do).
The Children's museum down there is building a huge modern addition, the barking crab is great for a dive-y drink, and the largest lobsters you'll ever see are right in the window at James Hook & Co on Atlantic ave.

oh and the harpoon brewery is right down there, free tastings, yum yum!

Great shots man...took me for a wander down memory lane they did. I kept waiting for a Scientology Building shot (used to live across the road from it) but just seeing the Newbury street shots was enough!
