i think qruise makes the mistake of overseeing the fact that dp's work has been acclaimed worldwide through publications and is all but pretentious nonsense as some of the people within the styles he refers to create...
it takes serious retouche and drawing skills and original ideas to rise above the rest, it's not just abstract 3d as we know it, i'd even go as far to say this might even be accepted in the "art-world".
i like it much more than the work of say,...misha klein, who did similar stuff but that's just not really my cup of tea. Anyway, he made a shitload of money (fafaik) with his art.
