Visiting London and curious about what wages are like for a junior and a senior designer, in boutique and corporate world. In NYC, from what I know) salaries usually go from $32k to $40k for junior designer for boutique to corporate, and much higher (55-70k) for senior. Any inputs?

i dont know for sure, but what I have seen on ads.
from £18k to £35k. (jr to senior)
I have seen upto £38k but seams rare.
only seen 40-45 on...head of design dept. think thats same like creative director.
might be a other story if your into motion graphics, think they make more bucks.

yes... welcome to one of the most expensive cities in the world!
i think your money goes slightly further in NYC. rent here is high, food is expensive, and you really have to pay to get nice, good quality food, and a weekly tube fare is £23 per week (zone 1-2 only). dont move here hoping to save money :)

you can live on £20k if needs must, but it's not that comfortable until you're at £30-£35.

Im going to live in London soon and its just sooooo fucking expensive!
stayed in hoxton for a while and was offered that place as the person was leaving, you think I can afford the rent on that place!!!
shopping at a supermarket is just the same as anywhere in the country, its if you go out to eat thats the problem, so if your a bit skint dont expect a social life!
oh and the £23 a week travel as well to go get crushed in the tube is GRRRRREEEEEEEYYYYTTTT!
its worth it though if you do get a good job/freelance as there is sooo much going on in london

(Jun 13 07, 02:16)Where do you get beans? Harrods?!
25 is probably manageable.
I survived on 16k about 7 years back.

ride a bike you lazy b'stards, and save a fiver on lunch by making your own sarnies, and drink cheap gin from the bottle rather than going to a pub, etc etc

i said *comfortable*. god knows, i used to get by on 14.5 when i first moved to town.
how was the gig?

you need to remember that what you go in at isn't necessarily what you will be on 2 years down the line... if everyone went in at a top level for their status there would be nothing to 'grow' into
