Spot the Difference:
http://www.kurtnoble.com/about/
In May 2006 we (greenparka.com) took out an advert in the Scottish Design Magazine "The Drum" - we thought the message represented our "no bullsh*t" approach when talking to clients etc so we decided to feature it as a graphic at the top of our one-pager site.
Its been there for over a year now and yesterday I followed the NTB link to the NEW "KNI" website and saw "their" message on their 'about' page.Folks are always posting rips on here so thought id see what people though.
- You think they've ripped our idea?
- Sheer Coincidence? Its pretty damn close, both in content and in tone.

the strikethrough?
- pascii0
huh? can't see any similarity. and btw. - one page websites are here since the web exists
- 23kon0
the similarity isnt in the strikethrough or the one-pager element.
did you read the text?
both start off with "marketing bullsh*t" that some web or design companies will spin to people to 'talk themselves up' with marketing/sales drivvel.
then it is struckthrough.
then followed up with a short, down to earth statement saying exactly what it is they do.
(without marketing/sales bull)
- kelpie0
sorry Kon, its highly unlikely to be a rip - I think its just a pretty commonplace bullshit marketing strategy ;)
- kelpie0
so no points scored there
- mimeartist0
yeah its quite an obivious idea anyway so probably quite likely to pop up a few times...
like saying 'we wear suits... not!'
- 23kon0
"we wear suits ... not!"
- good call!
lol
that one would HAVE to be a Waynes World parody videoclip. mind if i steal that idea and pitch it to the boys?
joke.

dude,
i find it hard to believe. i know this is the 3rd time you have raised the point, but the chance of kni ever hearing of you guys is pretty slim...
just my 2 cents...

------do their designers not have access to the internet likes? or use sites like NT?
i never even suggested that they think we are AMAZING or have heard of us but they mightve stumbled across our site from somewhere and liked the idea (thats if it is a rip). its not an impossibility!
(and its the 2nd time i raised it)

I have seen that done multiple times on multiple diff web sites.
Talk about a stretch

I'm sure it's been done before anyway. I like the new Parka site. It is very clean, straightforward and information based.

every man and their dog has been doing the no bullshit copy since innocent made it cool which was way back in the day now.

(Jun 8 07, 06:15)fair enough, mang. but to that end, Method did the very thing 6 years ago in their site w/ the strikethrough's and similar nav and copy.
is this 'unique'?- probably not earth-shattering, no.
is it effective?- clearly. smart agencies (your's included of course) are doing it and getting good response to it from clients, etc.
is smart design done over across different companies collateral a rip?- IMO, no; when each has their own take/aesthetic applied to it..... which kni clearly does here, IMO.
fair enough?
- material-10
so you shortened your marketing speak?
- 23kon0
aye thats fair enough madirish.
seed, the parka site isnt new, its a couple of years old now lol. drastically needing to spend some time and create a decent site showasing all the work we've done and with wee case studies too. not too much bullsh*t though - i wont let it happen! lol
